Ram pickups are the second-best-selling vehicles in Canada, and they are kept for a long time and worked hard. They also carry a specific set of expensive systems — air suspension, the 5.7 HEMI's camshaft and lifters, the EcoDiesel's emissions hardware, Uconnect screens — that turn up in our quotes over and over once the 5-year / 100,000 km powertrain warranty has passed.
There is also news for 2026: Ram has moved to a 10-year / 160,000 km powertrain warranty on new 2026 model-year trucks, the biggest factory-warranty upgrade in years, but it appears not to transfer to a second owner. Below: what the factory covers, when it ends, Mopar Vehicle Protection versus an independent plan, and what covering a Ram costs.
What does the Ram factory warranty cover in Canada?
These are Ram's Canadian terms — Canadian kilometres, not American miles, which is where most online confusion about "ram warranty" comes from.
| Coverage | Term | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Warranty | 3 years / 60,000 km | Whichever comes first. |
| Powertrain Warranty (2025 and earlier) | 5 years / 100,000 km | Fully transferable, $0 deductible. |
| Powertrain Warranty (2026 model year only) | 10 years / 160,000 km | Ram 1500 (including RHO), 2500, 3500, Chassis Cab and ProMaster. Excludes full battery-electric vehicles. Retail purchase or lease only. Non-transferable and applies only to the original retail purchaser or lessee, except where law requires otherwise (Quebec, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan). |
| Powertrain Warranty — fleet (2026 model year) | 5 years / 160,000 km | Same model list, fleet purchasers only. Non-transferable. |
| Cummins® Turbo Diesel engine | 5 years / 160,000 km | Separate limited warranty on 2500/3500 diesels. |
| Rust-through (perforation) | 5 years / 160,000 km | All body sheet metal. |
| Roadside assistance | 5 years / 100,000 km | 24-hour, with the powertrain warranty. |

Please check these terms against your own owner's manual. We do our best to keep Ram's Canadian terms current and correct, but manufacturers revise them, coverage differs by model year and trim, and errors can happen. The warranty booklet or owner's manual that came with your vehicle is what governs your coverage, not this page — please confirm anything here against it (or with your Ram dealer) before you rely on it.
When does the Ram factory warranty actually run out?
On a 2025-or-earlier Ram driven 20,000 km a year, the Basic Warranty ends at three years and the powertrain warranty at five; at 30,000 km a year the powertrain coverage is finished at three years and four months. A 2026 truck bought new and kept by its first owner has powertrain coverage to eight years at 20,000 km a year — but the rest of the truck, air suspension and electronics included, is still out of warranty at three.
For a used 2026 Ram, assume the powertrain coverage is back to 5 years / 100,000 km until a dealer confirms otherwise from the VIN.

Get My Free Ram QuoteMopar Vehicle Protection vs. an independent extended warranty
Mopar Vehicle Protection is Stellantis' own extended service contract for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat vehicles, sold through the dealer network in tiers (Maximum Care at the top, Added Care Plus, Powertrain Care), with repairs at Stellantis dealers in Canada and the United States. It is solid coverage with a large dealer network behind it. As with every manufacturer plan, it is dealer-priced and easiest to buy when the truck is new. If the truck is used, past the factory warranty, or you want your own diesel or suspension shop to do the work, price an independent plan alongside it.
| Mopar Vehicle Protection | Independent plan through Auto Warranty Experts | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sells it | Ram dealers | Us — several insurer-backed Canadian programs, compared in one written quote |
| Where repairs are done | Ram dealers | Any licensed repair facility in Canada — including a Ram dealer, if you prefer |
| When you can buy it | Usually while the factory warranty is still in force | Any time — new, used, or years after the factory warranty ended (a short inspection applies then) |
| How it's priced | Set by the selling dealer | Rated by vehicle class, mileage, term and tier; quoted plus tax, held for seven days |
| Who pays the shop | Ram | The claims administrator, directly, on most plans |
| Transferable if you sell | Usually, with conditions | Yes, on the programs we quote |
Both are legitimate. The right one depends on whether you bought new or used, where you want the work done, and whether the dealer's price is competitive — which is exactly what a second written quote tells you.
What tends to be expensive to fix on a Ram?
These are the repairs Ram owners most often ask us about once the factory coverage has ended. They are common enough to plan for, not inevitable, and the costs are typical Canadian ranges for parts and labour — your shop and your region will vary.
| Repair | What owners run into | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Air suspension (Ram 1500) | The Active-Level four-corner air suspension's compressor, air springs and height sensors are a well-known out-of-warranty expense, and a common reason a Ram owner calls us. | ≈ $1,500–$4,500 |
| 5.7 HEMI camshaft and lifters ('HEMI tick') | Lifter roller and camshaft wear on the 5.7 V8, particularly in cylinder-deactivation (MDS) engines, is a major engine repair once the powertrain warranty ends. | ≈ $3,000–$6,500 |
| 3.0 EcoDiesel emissions and turbo hardware | EGR coolers, turbochargers, DEF and NOx systems on the EcoDiesel V6 are among the most expensive repairs on any light truck. | ≈ $2,500–$8,000 |
| Uconnect screens and body electronics | Delaminating 8.4-inch screens, the 12-inch units on newer trucks, and body-control and TIPM electrical modules on older trucks. | ≈ $1,000–$2,800 |
Safety recalls are repaired free by Ram regardless of warranty status and are not listed here. Pre-existing conditions — a fault that already exists when coverage is bought — are excluded on every extended-warranty program, which is why coverage is arranged before symptoms appear. The 3.0 EcoDiesel and the Cummins 6.7 carry the diesel surcharge on our programs; the 3.0 Hurricane twin-turbo six in 2025-and-newer 1500s carries the turbo surcharge.
What does a Ram extended warranty cost in Canada?
Programs price vehicles by class, and Ram rates in class 1 of four — the lowest-priced group. These are current example prices for a Ram in that class, rounded, one-time purchase plus tax:
| Coverage | 3 years / 60,000 km of driving | 5 years / 100,000 km of driving |
|---|---|---|
| Comprehensive — named-component coverage, $5,000 per visit | ≈ $1,650 | ≈ $2,300 |
| Exclusionary — everything not on the exclusion list, $6,000 per visit | ≈ $2,200 | ≈ $2,750 |
Rate card effective February 1, 2026. All prices plus tax, with a flat $100 deductible per repair visit. Exclusionary coverage is available on vehicles up to 7 model years old and under 140,000 km at enrolment. Factory-turbocharged engines add $45 and diesels $75; a doubled kilometre allowance is $150. Not sold in Quebec. Your quote is for your vehicle — these show the shape of the market, not your price. Comprehensive or exclusionary — which one makes sense? NOTE: make-page prices are generated from functions/data/ratecard.js at build time — nothing to update by hand when the card changes; re-check the wording if the program structure changes
Which Ram models do we quote?
Any Ram that meets the program's age and kilometre limits qualifies. The ones we quote most: Ram 1500, Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty, ProMaster. Trims and powertrains matter for price (turbocharged versions carry the surcharge above), so we confirm the exact vehicle before quoting — a VIN gets you there fastest.
Common questions about Ram extended warranties
Does Ram have a 10-year warranty in Canada?
For 2026 model-year Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 and ProMaster, Ram introduced a 10-year / 160,000 km powertrain warranty. It appears to apply to the original owner only, reverting to 5 years / 100,000 km when the truck is resold. Earlier model years carry 5 years / 100,000 km. Confirm the terms on your VIN with a dealer.
What is Mopar Vehicle Protection?
Stellantis' own extended service contract for Ram, Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Fiat vehicles, sold through dealers in tiers such as Maximum Care and Added Care Plus, and honoured at Stellantis dealers in Canada and the United States.
Does an extended warranty cover Ram air suspension?
Yes — the air-suspension compressor, air springs and control components are covered on the comprehensive and exclusionary tiers we quote, within the plan's per-claim limit, provided coverage was in place before the failure. Pre-existing conditions are excluded on every program.
How much does a Ram extended warranty cost in Canada?
Ram rates in our lowest price class: about $1,650 for three years of comprehensive coverage up to $2,750 for five years of exclusionary coverage, plus tax, plus the diesel surcharge on EcoDiesel and Cummins trucks. Mileage and the exact model set the price.
