What does the Chevrolet factory warranty cover in Canada?
These are Chevrolet's Canadian terms — Canadian kilometres, not American miles, which is where most online confusion about "chevrolet warranty" comes from.

When does the Chevrolet factory warranty actually run out?
At 20,000 km a year the Base Warranty ends at three years and the powertrain warranty at five. Truck and SUV owners often exceed that: at 30,000 km a year, the bumper-to-bumper coverage is gone at two years and the powertrain coverage at three years and four months.
GM also issues Special Coverage bulletins that extend factory coverage on specific components for specific model years (some eight-speed transmission and lifter concerns have been handled this way). They are tied to the VIN and free — check with a dealer before you pay for a major repair or buy coverage for it.

General Motors of Canada sells the Chevrolet Protection Plan through its dealers, in several coverage levels, with repairs at GM dealers in Canada and the United States. It must be purchased within specific time and kilometre limits, which in practice means while the factory warranty is still in force. Having sold it for twelve years I can say it is good coverage. The independent alternative fits when you bought the vehicle used, when the purchase window has closed, when you want your own shop to do the work, or when you want a second written price before signing the first.

Both are legitimate. The right one depends on whether you bought new or used, where you want the work done, and whether the dealer's price is competitive — which is exactly what a second written quote tells you.

Safety recalls are repaired free by Chevrolet regardless of warranty status and are not listed here. Pre-existing conditions — a fault that already exists when coverage is bought — are excluded on every extended-warranty program, which is why coverage is arranged before symptoms appear. Turbocharged Chevrolets (the 1.2T/1.3T Trax and Trailblazer, 1.5T/2.0T Equinox, Malibu and Blazer, and the 2.7L turbo Silverado and Colorado) carry a small mandatory turbo surcharge on our programs; Duramax diesels carry the diesel surcharge.
What does a Chevrolet extended warranty cost in Canada?
Programs price vehicles by class, and Chevrolet rates in class 1 of four — the lowest-priced group. These are current example prices for a Chevrolet in that class, rounded, one-time purchase plus tax:

Is the Chevrolet warranty the same as the GM warranty?
Yes. Chevrolet, GMC and Buick share General Motors of Canada's terms — 3 years / 60,000 km base, 5 years / 100,000 km powertrain. Cadillac carries longer coverage (4 years / 80,000 km base, 6 years / 120,000 km powertrain).
What is the Chevrolet Protection Plan?
