Out of warranty shouldn't mean out the door.
The day the factory warranty ends, every service visit becomes a decision — and most customers start deciding in favour of the independent down the street. Auto Warranty Experts gives your out-of-warranty customers a reason to keep coming back to you. We quote it, we sell it, a licensed administrator services it. Your store puts a card on the counter.
The retention cliff
Retention falls off a cliff the day the factory warranty ends.
While the warranty runs, your lane is the default choice. The day it expires, the customer starts shopping the repair — and the independent is cheaper, closer, or simply the first one they call. Pull your own DMS retention report by vehicle age and you'll see the same shape every store sees.
Every defection costs twice. The customer-pay work walks first. The next vehicle follows it.
The program
Your lane makes the introduction. We do everything else.
Six things it changes, and one thing it asks of you.
Your customers stay past the cliff.
An extended contract is the one thing that gives an out-of-warranty customer a written reason to come back. For up to 60 months, a covered failure is a reason to call you, not the aftermarket.
Covered repairs come back to your shop.
Coverage is designed to be used at your store. When a covered part fails, the administrator pays your shop at your door rate — and the customer is standing in your lane again.
The everyday work rides along.
A customer who is back for a covered repair buys the oil change, the brakes, the tires and the alignment while they're here. That is ordinary customer-pay work you had already lost.
Zero workload for your team.
No software. No DMS integration. No selling, no paperwork, no handling money. Signage in the lane and one sentence at write-up: “You're out of warranty now — if you want options, scan that code.” A ten-minute advisor huddle covers it.
The right customer, at the right moment.
The warmest warranty lead in Canada is standing in your service lane holding an estimate. Online, that same customer is an expensive click we chase for weeks. In your lane, they are already thinking never again.
No conflict with your F&I office.
Different customer, different moment. F&I sells at delivery. This starts where that window closed — owners who bought elsewhere, bought private, or passed on coverage years ago. Anything under three model years old is handed straight back to your store, not quoted.
Four steps
Live in your lane in two weeks.
Nothing to install, nobody to train, no money to handle.
-
STEP 1
We kit your lane.
Counter tent cards, mirror hangers and invoice stickers, each carrying your store's own code.
-
STEP 2
Your customer scans.
They enter their vehicle and get no-obligation coverage options from our team. No pressure, no spam.
-
STEP 3
We quote it and sell it.
Our people answer the questions and paper the contract. From there a licensed administrator services the policy and pays the claims for the full term.
-
STEP 4
Your customer comes back.
Covered repairs and the work that rides with them land on your drive — for up to five years.
Built by a dealer
We run this in our own service drive first.
Auto Warranty Experts is owned and run by Sean LaFleur, Dealer Principal of Sault Nissan in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. We sell extended vehicle coverage online across Canada, and we built this program for our own service lane before offering it to anyone else's.
Every contract we sell is underwritten by a licensed insurer and administered by an established Canadian provider — the underwriter is named on page one of the customer's contract. Your store never holds the liability. We never hold the customer's money longer than it takes to remit it.
The program is live at Sault Nissan now. We measure it the way a GM would — per repair order, off the DMS — and results from the pilot will be published on this page as they come in.

Questions GMs ask
Straight answers.
“Will this cannibalize my F&I?”
No. F&I sells at delivery; this starts years later, with owners F&I never had a shot at. The customer page enforces it — anything under three model years old is handed back to your store rather than quoted.
“Whose paper is it?”
An established, insured Canadian administrator, sold under the Auto Warranty Experts name. The underwriter is named on page one of the contract. We do the quoting and selling; the administrator services the policy and pays claims; your store never holds the liability.
“What's the workload for my team?”
Signage and one sentence at write-up. No training program, no software, no selling, no handling money.
“What does it cost me?”
Nothing. No fees, no minimums, no exclusivity, cancel anytime. The downside case is a few square feet of counter space.
“What happens to my customer?”
They scan, they get options, they decide. Our model is no-obligation quotes, not boiler-room calls. Your store's name is on the card next to ours, and we treat it that way.
“Where do you operate?”
We're onboarding Ontario stores now. We're building a dealer-partner structure for British Columbia and Alberta that fits the licensing rules in those provinces — if you're a western store, we'd like to talk to you about it.
