When does the Mitsubishi factory warranty actually run out?
The comprehensive coverage ends at five years or 100,000 km — at 20,000 km a year, both at once. The powertrain coverage for a first owner runs to ten years or 160,000 km, so at 20,000 km a year it ends at eight years on kilometres. Very few Mitsubishi owners will ever pay for an engine or transmission themselves.
What they do pay for, from year six, is the rest of the vehicle. An extended plan on a Mitsubishi is best thought of as covering years six to ten of the electronics, air conditioning, PHEV ancillaries and steering and suspension components — the parts the long powertrain warranty does not reach.

Mitsubishi Motors Canada sells extended protection through its dealers under the Diamond Care umbrella; the mechanical plan is Diamond Care Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP), with repairs at Mitsubishi dealers. Because the factory powertrain coverage already runs to ten years, the value of any extended plan on a Mitsubishi is concentrated in the comprehensive coverage after year five.
