In Canada, Hyundai's comprehensive and powertrain warranties both run 5 years / 100,000 km. That is still better than most brands' 3-year comprehensive coverage, and the fourth- and fifth-year coverage includes more components than most competitors' powertrain warranties, but the engine and transmission are not covered for a decade here.

When does the Hyundai factory warranty actually run out?
At 20,000 km a year, everything ends together at five years. At 25,000 km a year, it all ends at four. Because the comprehensive and powertrain terms are identical, there is no "powertrain tail" on a Hyundai the way there is on a Toyota or Ford: the day the comprehensive warranty ends, the engine and transmission are uncovered too.
Hyundai has also extended its own engine coverage on certain model years (the 2.0 and 2.4 GDI "Theta II" engines in particular) under recalls and settlements. Those extensions are free and follow the VIN — check with a dealer before paying for engine work or buying coverage for it.

Hyundai Extended Protection Plans are Hyundai Canada's dealer-sold extended coverage, in three tiers — Premium, Premium Plus and Technology Premium Plus — with repairs at Hyundai dealers. It is generally bought at delivery or while the vehicle is under the factory warranty. Because the factory coverage already runs five years, the plan's value is in years six to eight or nine, and the difference between tiers matters more than usual: a powertrain-only extension is cheap and covers the parts least likely to fail; comprehensive coverage covers the electronics and dual-clutch transmissions that actually generate claims.
