Chrysler Extended Warranty in Canada: What the Factory Covers, When It Ends and What a Plan Costs

Short answerA Chrysler in Canada carries a 3-year / 60,000 km Basic Warranty, a fully transferable 5-year / 100,000 km Powertrain Warranty with $0 deductible, 24-hour roadside assistance for the powertrain period, and 5-year rust-through coverage. Stellantis' own Canadian pages disagree on the Pacifica Hybrid's high-voltage battery term, so we confirm that one with the dealer rather than publish a number. Stellantis' own extended plan is Mopar Vehicle Protection, through dealers. An independent plan covers the same repairs at any licensed shop; Chrysler rates in our lowest price class — typically about $1,650 to $2,750 plus tax for multi-year coverage.

Chrysler in Canada today means minivans: the Pacifica, the Pacifica Hybrid plug-in and, since 2021, the Grand Caravan name on the Pacifica's platform. Add the 300 sedans still on the road and you have a brand whose owners drive families around a great deal and keep the vehicle a long time — a combination that produces high kilometres and a strong interest in what happens after year five.

Below: what Stellantis covers on a Chrysler in Canada, when that coverage ends, how Mopar Vehicle Protection compares with an independent plan, the repairs that show up most on the minivans, and what covering a Chrysler costs.

What does the Chrysler factory warranty cover in Canada?

These are Chrysler's Canadian terms — Canadian kilometres, not American miles, which is where most online confusion about "chrysler warranty" comes from.

Basic Warranty3 years / 60,000 kmWhichever comes first.
Powertrain Warranty5 years / 100,000 kmFully transferable, $0 deductible.

Please check these terms against your own owner's manual. We do our best to keep Chrysler's Canadian terms current and correct, but manufacturers revise them, coverage differs by model year and trim, and errors can happen. The warranty booklet or owner's manual that came with your vehicle is what governs your coverage, not this page — please confirm anything here against it (or with your Chrysler dealer) before you rely on it.

When does the Chrysler factory warranty actually run out?

Minivans rack up kilometres. At 25,000 km a year — common for a family vehicle — the Basic Warranty is gone at two years and five months and the powertrain warranty at four years. The Pacifica Hybrid's battery coverage runs longer than that — Stellantis Canada publishes two different terms for it and we are confirming which applies, so ask your dealer for the figure on your VIN. Either way, the rest of the hybrid system and the whole of the van's electronics and sliding-door hardware are only covered for the first three years.

Mopar Vehicle Protection vs. an independent extended warranty

Mopar Vehicle Protection is Stellantis' extended service contract for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat, sold through dealers in tiers (Maximum Care, Added Care Plus, Powertrain Care) with repairs at Stellantis dealers in Canada and the United States. It is bought while the factory warranty is in force and is a reasonable choice for a new Pacifica. For a used van, one past the factory warranty, or an owner who wants an independent shop to do the work, an independent plan is worth pricing alongside it.

What tends to be expensive to fix on a Chrysler?

These are the repairs Chrysler owners most often ask us about once the factory coverage has ended. They are common enough to plan for, not inevitable, and the costs are typical Canadian ranges for parts and labour — your shop and your region will vary.

RepairWhat owners run intoTypical cost
Nine-speed automatic (948TE) transmissionShift-quality complaints and valve-body or full-unit repairs on the Pacifica's nine-speed at higher kilometres.≈ $3,000–$6,500
Pacifica Hybrid ancillariesOutside the factory battery coverage, the onboard charger, inverter cooling and hybrid control electronics are premium-priced repairs; some Pacifica Hybrid issues have been handled under recall, which is free — check the VIN.≈ $2,000–$6,000
Power sliding doors, liftgate and A/C systemSliding-door motors and cables, power liftgate struts and motors, and rear A/C components are the everyday four-figure repairs of minivan ownership.≈ $800–$2,500
Pentastar 3.6 oil filter housing, Uconnect and body electronicsThe plastic oil-filter/cooler housing leak is very common on 2014–2019 3.6 engines; Uconnect screens and body-control modules make up the rest of the non-mechanical claims.≈ $800–$2,500

Safety recalls are repaired free by Chrysler regardless of warranty status and are not listed here. Pre-existing conditions — a fault that already exists when coverage is bought — are excluded on every extended-warranty program, which is why coverage is arranged before symptoms appear.

What does a Chrysler extended warranty cost in Canada?

Programs price vehicles by class, and Chrysler rates in class 1 of four — the lowest-priced group. These are current example prices for a Chrysler in that class, rounded, one-time purchase plus tax:

Coverage3 years / 60,000 km of driving5 years / 100,000 km of driving
Comprehensive — named-component coverage, $5,000 per visit≈ $1,650≈ $2,300
Exclusionary — everything not on the exclusion list, $6,000 per visit≈ $2,200≈ $2,750

Rate card effective February 1, 2026. All prices plus tax, with a flat $100 deductible per repair visit. Exclusionary coverage is available on vehicles up to 7 model years old and under 140,000 km at enrolment. Factory-turbocharged engines add $45 and diesels $75; a doubled kilometre allowance is $150. Not sold in Quebec. Your quote is for your vehicle — these show the shape of the market, not your price. Comprehensive or exclusionary — which one makes sense? NOTE: make-page prices are generated from functions/data/ratecard.js at build time — nothing to update by hand when the card changes; re-check the wording if the program structure changes

Which Chrysler models do we quote?

Any Chrysler that meets the program's age and kilometre limits qualifies. The ones we quote most: Pacifica, Pacifica Hybrid (plug-in), Grand Caravan (2021 and newer), 300 (to 2023). Trims and powertrains matter for price, so we confirm the exact vehicle before quoting — a VIN gets you there fastest.

Common questions about Chrysler extended warranties

Does an extended warranty cover the Pacifica Hybrid?

Yes. Plug-in hybrids are eligible for mechanical coverage on the programs we quote; high-voltage battery coverage varies by program, and Stellantis' own Canadian pages currently disagree on the factory battery term — we confirm it with the dealer before quoting. We tell you plainly which components are covered before you buy.

What is Mopar Vehicle Protection?

Stellantis' own extended service contract for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat vehicles, sold through dealers in tiers such as Maximum Care and Added Care Plus, honoured at Stellantis dealers in Canada and the United States, and generally purchased while the factory warranty is still in force.

How much does a Chrysler extended warranty cost in Canada?

Chrysler rates in our lowest price class: about $1,650 for three years of comprehensive coverage up to $2,750 for five years of exclusionary coverage, plus tax. Mileage and the exact model set the final number; plug-in hybrids are quoted individually.
