Audi Extended Warranty in Canada: What the Factory Covers, When It Ends and What a Plan Costs

Short answerA new Audi in Canada carries a 4-year / 80,000 km New Vehicle Limited Warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance for the same period, a 12-year unlimited-kilometre corrosion-perforation warranty and 8 years / 160,000 km on e-tron high-voltage batteries. Audi Canada publishes no separate powertrain term — the engine and transmission are covered by the same 4-year / 80,000 km warranty as everything else. Audi's own extended plan is Audi After Care MBP, sold through Audi dealers; an independent plan covers the same repairs at any licensed shop. Audi rates in our highest price class — typically about $1,950 to $3,050 plus tax, plus the turbo surcharge.

Audi owners in Canada get four years or 80,000 km of comprehensive coverage and, unusually among the German brands, a slightly longer powertrain term after it. What they also get is Volkswagen Group engineering at Audi prices: the same 2.0 turbo and dual-clutch transmissions as a Volkswagen, plus quattro all-wheel drive, MMI electronics, and on the larger models air suspension and supercharged or turbocharged V6s.

The result is a car that is excellent to own under warranty and expensive to own without one. Below: the factory terms, when they end, Audi's own dealer-sold coverage versus an independent plan, the repairs that come up, and what covering an Audi costs.

What does the Audi factory warranty cover in Canada?

These are Audi's Canadian terms — Canadian kilometres, not American miles, which is where most online confusion about "audi warranty" comes from.

Please check these terms against your own owner's manual. We do our best to keep Audi's Canadian terms current and correct, but manufacturers revise them, coverage differs by model year and trim, and errors can happen. The warranty booklet or owner's manual that came with your vehicle is what governs your coverage, not this page — please confirm anything here against it (or with your Audi dealer) before you rely on it.

When does the Audi factory warranty actually run out?

At 20,000 km a year the New Vehicle Limited Warranty and its 80,000 km limit expire together at four years; the powertrain term, sharing the same 80,000 km limit, ends at the same moment for that driver — the extra year only helps low-kilometre owners. At 25,000 km a year everything is finished at three years and two months.

As with every German brand, the right time to arrange coverage is before the warranty ends and before any symptoms appear. An Audi with a known oil leak or a DSG fault has a pre-existing condition, which no program covers.

Audi After Care Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP) vs. an independent extended warranty

Audi After Care Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP) is Audi Canada's own extended coverage, sold through Audi dealers in three levels — Sterling, Gold and Platinum — priced by the dealer and honoured at Audi dealers with genuine parts. (Audi Care is prepaid maintenance, not a warranty.) (Audi's Certified :plus warranty is a different thing — it comes with certified pre-owned vehicles bought from an Audi dealer.) The factory plan is a reasonable choice for an owner who bought new and services at the dealer. An independent plan is the route for a used Audi bought privately or elsewhere, a car near or past the warranty, or an owner with an independent Audi/VW specialist.

What tends to be expensive to fix on a Audi?

These are the repairs Audi owners most often ask us about once the factory coverage has ended. They are common enough to plan for, not inevitable, and the costs are typical Canadian ranges for parts and labour — your shop and your region will vary.

RepairWhat owners run intoTypical cost
EA888 2.0 turbo and 3.0 V6 ancillariesWater pumps and thermostat housings, PCV systems, carbon build-up cleaning and — on the 2010–2017 supercharged 3.0 — supercharger and cooling components; turbocharger replacement on higher-kilometre 2.0T cars.≈ $1,200–$4,500
S tronic dual-clutch mechatronics and clutch packsThe mechatronic unit and clutch packs on the seven-speed S tronic are the transmission repairs Audi owners encounter most; Tiptronic conventional automatics fare better.≈ $3,000–$6,000
quattro components, air suspension and steeringRear differentials and transfer cases on high-kilometre quattro cars, adaptive air suspension on the Q7, Q8 and A8, and electric steering racks.≈ $1,800–$5,000
MMI electronics and e-tron charging hardwareMMI displays and control units, virtual cockpit, parking and radar sensors, and on e-tron models the on-board charger and thermal-management components outside the battery coverage.≈ $1,500–$4,500

Safety recalls are repaired free by Audi regardless of warranty status and are not listed here. Pre-existing conditions — a fault that already exists when coverage is bought — are excluded on every extended-warranty program, which is why coverage is arranged before symptoms appear. Every current Audi engine is turbocharged (or supercharged on older 3.0 V6 models), so the small mandatory turbo surcharge applies across the range; e-tron models are quoted through our EV coverage.

What does a Audi extended warranty cost in Canada?

Programs price vehicles by class, and Audi rates in class 4 of four — the highest-priced group, alongside the other German luxury brands. These are current example prices for a Audi in that class, rounded, one-time purchase plus tax:

Coverage3 years / 60,000 km of driving5 years / 100,000 km of driving
Comprehensive — named-component coverage, $5,000 per visit≈ $1,950≈ $2,600
Exclusionary — everything not on the exclusion list, $6,000 per visit≈ $2,500≈ $3,050

Rate card effective February 1, 2026. All prices plus tax, with a flat $100 deductible per repair visit. Exclusionary coverage is available on vehicles up to 7 model years old and under 140,000 km at enrolment. Factory-turbocharged engines add $45 and diesels $75; a doubled kilometre allowance is $150. Not sold in Quebec. Your quote is for your vehicle — these show the shape of the market, not your price. Comprehensive or exclusionary — which one makes sense? NOTE: make-page prices are generated from functions/data/ratecard.js at build time — nothing to update by hand when the card changes; re-check the wording if the program structure changes

Which Audi models do we quote?

Any Audi that meets the program's age and kilometre limits qualifies. The ones we quote most: Q5, Q3, Q7, A4, A5, Q8, Q4 e-tron and Q8 e-tron. Trims and powertrains matter for price (turbocharged versions carry the surcharge above), so we confirm the exact vehicle before quoting — a VIN gets you there fastest.

Common questions about Audi extended warranties

How long is the Audi warranty in Canada?

4 years / 80,000 km on the whole vehicle from the in-service date, with 24-hour roadside assistance for the same period, a 12-year unlimited-kilometre corrosion-perforation warranty and 8 years / 160,000 km on e-tron high-voltage batteries. Audi Canada publishes no separate powertrain term: the engine and transmission lose coverage the same day as everything else.

Does an extended warranty cover the S tronic transmission?

Yes — the transmission and its mechatronic unit are covered components on the comprehensive and exclusionary tiers we quote, within the plan's per-claim limit, provided coverage was in place before the failure. Pre-existing conditions are excluded on every program.

Is an extended warranty worth it on an Audi?

For an owner keeping the car past four years or 80,000 km, usually yes. Cooling components, dual-clutch repairs, quattro hardware and MMI electronics are routine four-figure repairs from 100,000 km, and Audi parts pricing is at the top of the market. The comprehensive plan covers the mechanical side; the MMI and sensor electronics are what make the exclusionary upgrade worth a hard look on an Audi.

How much does an Audi extended warranty cost in Canada?

Audi rates in our highest price class: about $1,950 for three years of comprehensive coverage up to $3,050 for five years of exclusionary coverage, plus tax and the turbo surcharge. Mileage and the exact model set the final number.
